DMC Mouliné Coloris 4514 is a multicolour embroidery thread from DMC’s Coloris range, designed to produce automatic colour variations without changing thread.
Each single skein consists of a blend of four distinct, complementary colours, dyed in sequence along the length of the thread. The colour transitions are regular and controlled, making this thread particularly suitable for cross-stitch and counted-thread embroidery, where consistent colour progression is required.
The thread is made from 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton, double-mercerised to ensure strength, dimensional stability and clean stitch definition. The dyes used are colourfast, offering high resistance to light and washing, allowing finished embroidery to be washed without risk of fading or colour bleeding.
Mouliné Coloris is a 6-strand divisible floss, allowing the number of strands to be adjusted according to fabric count and desired coverage. It is compatible with all major hand-embroidery techniques.
As a segment-dyed multicolour thread, DMC Mouliné Coloris may initially feel slightly firmer or drier than solid-colour Mouliné Spécial. This is a normal characteristic of the Coloris range and is due to the multicolour dyeing process and a light protective sizing, applied to ensure colour accuracy and stability.
The thread texture is fully consistent with DMC manufacturing standards. During stitching and after the first wash of the finished embroidery, the cotton naturally becomes softer, while maintaining its structural qualities.
This skein comes from stock acquired following the closure of a traditional haberdashery and is in good condition.

Needle Recommendations: Best used with embroidery needles size 5–9 (depending on number of strands and fabric count).
Tip: Cut floss into lengths roughly fingertip‑to‑elbow (≈ 45–50 cm) before separating strands, to prevent tangling, fraying or colour degradation when stitching.
